How can I forget a painful past doing the course

Wisdom by Spiritual leader and Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Q:  How can I forget a painful past doing the course?

It happens effortlessly.
Q:  I do not know how to express my feelings and emotions. As I was trying to hide them, all the stress goes into myself. I do not know what to do with this. Is it very difficult to empty my mind even while meditating with your guidance?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
Hmm! If you get too many thoughts, there are certain reasons. One of the reasons, for getting too many thoughts, is when your bowel is not clear, when your stomach is upset, constipated. If your bowel movements are not ok then you get too many thoughts. If there is no proper blood circulation in the body, then also you get too many thoughts, yeah? So, yoga and pranayama will help. Proper food and diet will help. Show to Ayurvedic doctor, he will say if there is too much pitta in your system, then he will suggest the food, which will also help.

How do we keep God and the world together

Wisdom by Spiritual leader and Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Q:  In the present day, there is a pressure to commit fraudulent activities in corporate world. How to handle these situations?
Skillfully. If your boss tells you to do fraud, avoid it skillfully. Finally, say that your consciousness does not allow you to commitfraud. The boss will escape if you do fraud, and you will be put behind bars. However, hundred percent truth is also not workable, it is only an ideal. There is an ancient Indian proverb that says that as much lies are allowed as there is salt in food. For example, if you want to sell your product, it may not be the best; still you can say that your product is the best. That much lies are permissible. Ancient people have said this, thousands of years back. It is fascinating how they handled the human mind.

Q:  How do we keep God and the world together?
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
How can you keep them together? They are already one. Where is the question of combining them? In the nature of form, it is world, and same is God in its formless nature. You don’t have to do anything to bring them together.

Living – Truly An Art

Somewhere in my quest for better living, I came across an Organization known as The Art of Living.  The name itself sounded curious and for a meandering soul like me, I wanted to know more about it. I came to know that the founder of this foundation is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, a modern day spiritual master who has touched the lives of millions across the globe.

The enthusiastic volunteers encouraged me to experience their course and see for myself. I participated in a six day program that made me look into many aspects of life that we take for granted or simply fail to implement.I also learned a breathing technique called Sudarshan Kriya, taught in the 6 day Happiness Program  of The Art of Living, that has left a profound impact on me. I came out of the program a completely changed man in terms of how I should look at life and how I react to situations.

I had read many of the articles and books of Poojya Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Guruji and watched His knowledge videos. But, the knowledge actually started sinking in only after I met Him for the first time in the year 2006. It’s like when you have to make a delicious dish, you need to know the right recipe, but it’s only when you taste the dish that you realize its value. Same was my encounter with Gurudev. Since then, my life has witnessed various ups and downs, and other challenges. But I have always sensed a Divine hand on my soul. I have always sailed through, with a smile on my face:)

Talk on attractions and distractions by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Wisdom by Spiritual leader and Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Q: There are so many attractions and distractions but still the youth is so bored.

Youth is bored and it’s their fortune. If they were satisfied then growth would have stopped. When they are bored then the quest comes in them. They are not satisfied with the things available around. And this is the stage when they can take a step to look within, a leap in their inner journey, a step towards spirituality. An interest in higher growth gets kindled when you are bored with things around. When you find source of joy within, then obviously everything around is also reflecting the same source of joy, then you find interest in everything. Continuous bombardment of senses by stimuli can cause inertia. Inertia is boredom, is a form of boredom. Again when prana level goes up, you move from inertia to enthusiasm.
Q: Dear Guruji, I noticed that I am unconsciously always comparing myself with others. Tell me how to stop it please?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar:
If you are unconsciously stopping it, it will unconsciously stop also. Why do you consciously want to stop? Let it be. Got it? Your trying to stop it consciously becomes a problem. You get stuck. So just relax. Just relax and continue more meditation, more Advanced and Silence programmes. These will de-program you from that thing.

Buddha & Silence: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Wisdom by Spiritual leader and Art of Living Founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Thoughts are not the goal in themselves. Their goal is Silence. When you ask the question "Who am I?" you get no answer, there is silence. That is the real answer.” - Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

Mind is noise, the source of mind is silence. That's why Buddha said, "No mind." That doesn't mean that Buddha was not talking. How can you talk, how can you interact with people if there is no mind? When Buddha said "No mind," he meant not that chain of thoughts that simply wander around in your mind all the time. Buddha kept silent for many questions.

An ancient rishi said, “become answerless”. Every question only pushes the question a little further. Every answer brings forth many more questions. There is no end to question/answer session. It can go on forever! You answer one question, it'll bring forth another ten questions. Question and answers are, are the pair, are the couple. They have no family plan!

He said, “go beyond the questions, be answerless, for you are, your being has the solution to all the questions”. Turn every question into wonder. Ho! You know, what is the difference between question and wonder? A question creates violence, wonder creates silence. A question is looking for an answer, wonder is another question not looking for an answer. Do you see what I am saying? You wonder, hah!, what about this, I wonder how beautiful this is? The astonishment of wonder does not seek for an answer. It brings you home to silence.
